What can I do with .new?

.new is a namespace for action generation or online creation fl ows. It will be a secure TLD that requires

HTTPS in Web browsers. It will be available to all registrants but feature usage restrictions that all

domains be used for action generation or online content creation. Some examples of already .new

domains that Google has made available are docs.new, sheets.new and slides.new. Navigation to a .new

domain must bring a user directly into the action generation or online creation fl ow. The only exception to this rule is for secure sites that require a user to fi rst login, and in this case the user must immediately

be brought to an action generation page aft er authentication.

How will the Registration Policy be enforced?

Google Registry will actively enforce compliance. Registrations must be compliant with the Registration

Policy and resolve to an action generation or online content creation fl ow at most 100 days from the

initial registration date, or compliance action may be taken. Non-compliant registrants will be notifi ed by

the Registry using the Registrars’ pass-through communication method. Registrants will be provided an

opport unity to remediate by coming into compliance with the .new Registration Policy. Registrations that

do not come into compliance with the Registration Policy within the specifi ed windows may be

suspended or deleted, without refund.

Website services that require an account in order to access content or undert ake activities may register

.new domain names, however upon request, access must be provided to Google Registry or its

designee free-of-charge for the purpose of verifying compliance with the Registration Policy.

The requirement for a name to be live within 100 days of registration is waived for Sunrise registrations.

The name is never required to resolve, but must be compliant with the Registration Policy if/when it does.

What is the process for registering a name during LRP?

During the Limited Registration Period, registrants may apply for a domain name via a form on the .new

website. Google Registry will evaluate all applications based on compliance with the Registration Policy.

Selected .new domain names will receive an allocation token which must be used to purchase the

approved domain from any LRP-part icipating registrar.

Is a local presence required?

No, a local presence will not be required to register a domain for .new.

Do you allow the use of a trustee service?

Yes, so long as the registrar completes WHOIS information for all registrants.

Do you provide a trustee (local presence) service for domain registrations?

No, Google Registry will not provide a trustee service for .new domain registrations.

Is a trademark required to register a domain name?

A trademark with a valid signed mark data fi le is only required during sunrise.

Are any documents required for the registration of a domain name?

No documents are required.

Will registrants be allowed to modify the domain, contact or host directly at the registry?

No.

Transfer and Deletion Process information

Will the transfer process be consistent with the standard process? Are documents required for the change of registrant?

Yes, the transfer process will follow the standard guidelines. No documents will be required.

Can domains be locked for transfer?

“clientTransferProhibited” can be added to a domain via an EPP update; “serverTransferProhibited” can also be added for a nominal fee.

Do domains have to expire?

All domains automatically auto-renew at their expiration date. Domains must be explicitly deleted for them to ever be released.

Can domains be deleted?

Yes.

Domain restore via EPP “Domain Update” command?

Yes, this is how a domain restore is done (as per RFC 3915).

Domain restore requires report ?

No, a restore report is not required. The restore “request” operation will immediately restore a domain.

What is the server transfer policy?

Transfers will be auto approved aft er 5 days if not explicitly acknowledged or rejected by the losing registrar.

Do you provide a droplist for deleted domain names?
